Presentation Summerguest 2019:
Maud Haya-Baviera
Some Palaces

23 – 31 August 2019
Opening on Friday 23 August at 8 p.m.

The French artist Maud Haya-Baviera lives and works in Sheffield (GB). Since her arrival in mid-July, she has been working on a new project dealing with issues of immigration, cultural identity and the ongoing impact of intergenerational displacement. Her presentation Some Palaces brings together various video works that oscillate between visual experimentation and realism to convey the complexity of the themes she explores.
The artist has worked with both archive material and her own video recordings of the living conditions of the citizens of Dortmund. The result is a multi-faceted video installation that is not only emotionally charged, but also humorous and impressive.

The demanding interweaving of migration and the world in which Maud Haya-Baviera lives in his artistic work was the decisive factor in her being awarded the Summer Residence in 2019. Maud Haya-Baviera will be a guest at the Künstlerhaus until 30.08.2019.
